About the department

The Department of Civil Engineering is one of the departments of the Faculty of Engineering Minia University, which was opened in 1986. The first of its classes was graduated in 1989 from civil engineers who are qualified to meet the needs of the work in various fields of civil engineering, including construction works, public works, irrigation and drainage works. The fields of study in the civil engineering department for the bachelor's level are various to include: Structural engineering includes the study of constructions analysis, design and implementation of concrete and metal constructions, resistance science and engineering materials testing, Studies soil and foundations’ science. The engineering of public works and infrastructure for the design of roads, airports and railways and the appropriate systems for transport and traffic and improving them, and the required knowledge of the work of cadastral and urban health engineering, Irrigation engineering, water and drainage systems, hydraulics bases and providing appropriate solutions for environmental pollution

Objectives

The Goals of Civil Engineering Department Educating and training students on the principles and methods of using mathematics, science and supported topics of civil engineering. Training students on the use of laboratory equipment and modern software to conduct and simulate experiments to collect data and test the theories necessary for the implementation of various projects. Developing design skills, including the ability to formulate issues, teamwork and effective communication orally and in writing Graduating qualified engineers to keep pace with contemporary developments, in order to work in the fields of engineering, industry, research centers, community service and to follow postgraduate studies. Providing the ability to research and advanced studies in several areas, including modern techniques used in infrastructure systems and civil engineering works and the ability to use methods, tools and modern engineering skills. To deepen the graduates' understanding of the responsibilities and professional ethics needed for them and their future needs.
